A 575-acre lakeside community centered around an 85-acre lake with 2.5 miles of pristine shoreline in Clayton, NC.
Cattail sits on 575 acres in the northwest corner of Johnston County, just over 20 miles from downtown Raleigh. The community is centered around an 85-acre private lake with over 2.5 miles of shoreline — a natural feature that existed on the land for decades before development began.
The land was originally purchased in the 1970s and stayed in the family for over 40 years. When the decision was made to develop, the approach was intentional: 296 homesites instead of the 500+ the acreage could support. Lot sizes range from half an acre to over 3 acres, with 50 homesites positioned directly on the lake.
Infrastructure includes a resort-style pool, clubhouse, private boat launch, fishing pier, fire pits, and a 180-degree pergola overlooking the lake. Walking and golf cart paths connect the community to the central amenity area. Two distinct neighborhoods — The Peninsula and The Preserve — offer lakefront and interior positions at different price points.
Four builders were selected to build in the community. The first homes are complete, with construction continuing through multiple phases over the coming years.
